Radio Ad Campaign
Ma Nolan's Irish Pubs have recently begun working with Riviera Radio in a push to include more people in our plans for Summer in Nice. Sushi Parties, Open Mic Nights and a second Pub Quiz have been added to the bill of events as well as many more live bands. The new events have been fantastic and we thought it'd be rude to keep all the fun a secret. To listen to our radio ad, click here
Ma Nolan’s Launch a New Irish Pub in Nice - June 2008
Ma Nolan’s Irish Pubs is proud and excited to announce the official opening of their latest venue at Nice Port on Tuesday 17th June, 2008.
The acquisition of the site has been a long awaited find for the company, who have been searching for a perfect venue to expand into for the past 3 years. This new Irish pub, ‘Ma Nolan’s, Nice Port’, will add a new dimension in nightlife and casual dining to the up and coming Port area of the city. Founder and Managing Director, Thady Nolan, commented, “we are delighted to be opening our second venue in Nice Port as the area already has so much to offer; its an exciting development for us and we look forward to providing locals and tourists alike with great food, live music and a genuinely warm Irish welcome. By creating an authentic Irish pub and dining experience, we feel like we're meeting the human need to belong. Ma Nolan’s is the type of place where you can socialize in comfortable surroundings and feel immediately at ease”.
With an impressive feature back bar and innovative use of wood, steel and leather, the second Ma Nolan’s Irish Pub is designed to be a warm, welcoming and atmospheric venue, the perfect place to eat, drink and party. An outdoor heated terrace situated to the front of the premises provides customers with front row seats to stunning views over the Port and across to the Chateau. “We want customers to walk in and say WOW,” says Nolan, who has completely renovated the old restaurant and added many upgrades to the existing building.
(Stunning views from the terrace)
Located just a 15 minute walk away from the existing Ma Nolan’s in Vieux Nice, the new venue has been designed to bring a more luxurious environment to the original concept of a traditional Irish pub. The two venues share the same menu of wholesome, hearty pub grub. The most popular dishes include our home made fish’n’chips, beef and Guinness pie (of course!), thai green curry and our traditional roast dinner, served every Sunday with all the trimmings.
And since no genuine pub would be complete without it, Ma Nolan’s screens all important live sport events on numerous plasma TVs. “We have our share of ex-patriots who can be a bit vocal during a good match, but that adds all the more to the experience”, says Nolan. Nolan’s partner, Christophe Souques, brings expansive restaurant management expertise to the mix as well as invaluable local market knowledge. He comments: “We've done our best to accommodate all our customers. This has extended to offering free WiFi wireless access to laptop-toting professionals & highchairs for families out dining with children”. This recipe for combining the look, feel, tastes and sounds of Ireland is scoring points with more than just sports fans, families and business professionals. After only 3 years in existence the original Ma Nolan’s, described in the 2008 Lonely Planet Guide as ‘the bar of the moment’, has already established itself as the most popular bar in Nice.
The NEW Ma Nolan’s Irish Pub can be found on Nice Port at: 5 Quai des deux Emmanuel, 06300, Nice
Ma Nolan's sponsors North Pole Marathon runner - April 2007
The North Pole marathon is the worlds coolest and most northerly marathon. It is run entirely on water - The frozen water of the Arctic Ocean.
36 year old lecturer from Limerick, Finbarr Murphy, ran 26.2 miles in sub-zero temperatures to raise money for the Limerick Rape Crisis Centre and Ma Nolan's was only too happy to sponsor him in this challenge.
The race got under way at 2:45am GMT on 7 April, but with continuous daylight at this time of year, visibility was not a problem. In fact, the runners enjoyed brilliant sunshine, which took the edge off the -25C temperature, although they needed three layers of clothes to cope with the frigid conditions.
43 Athletes from 22 nations took part and Barry finished seventh with a phenomenal time of 4hr 40mins.
Some three hours after the marathon was completed, Barry competed in the inaugural North Pole bike race over 26 miles. He was 2nd with about 4 miles to go but he collasped from hypothermia and dehydration. Despite wearing two pairs of gloves, Barry suffered frost bite on his finger tips. Fortunately these wounds are healing and he expects to make a full recovery. His ears were also exposed and damaged by frostbite.
When asked how he felt about completing such a physically demanding marathon, Barry said, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy".
He raised 4,200E's for the Limerick Rape Crisis Centre, which offers group work, telephone support and one to one counselling for adult survivors of sexual violence and child sexual abuse. They also give therapy and counselling for carers and family members.
The North Pole marathon is organised by international athlete Richard Donovan.

Ma Nolan's - Right in the heart of the 'Old Town' and next to the opera, Ma Nolan's has everything you would expect from an Irish pub and more. Live music every night, major sporting events on 4 screens, really good food and very friendly staff. This place is a must.

"Ma Nolan's - Best Irish Pub in Nice"
August 14, 2007
Sorry, Wayne's, but I prefer Ma Nolans's. To begin with, Ma Nolans's is immense compared to Wayne's. Every night around 10 PM there's live music. During the day, you can watch major sports events on four big screens while taking a bite and/or drinking. Portions are generous here. Check their website for prices and their latest food and drink menus.

“Splendid trip"

The highlight of our trip was finding Ma Nolan's pub, in Nice old town. The entire street was alive with restaraunts and pubs, during the day there is a street market. Ma Nolan's was the best pub we visited by a long way, the atmosphere was great, the food superb and the staff really friendly. Live music every night, excellent sports coverage on 4 or 5 well placed screens. The place was a magnet for travellers and locals alike of all ages.

I discovered Ma Nolan's when searching for another Irish pub I'd read about called O'Haras. Never got to O'Haras! Ma Nolan's was fab and the bar and waiting staff were really friendly. They made terrific cocktails, took time out to speak to you and get to know you and generally were always up for a laugh! I came here in total 4 nights out of my 7 and it was my best discovery! Certainly for someone travelling on their own this was a great place to relax and make new friends. Brilliant night. Don't go to Nice without going to Ma Nolan's and sampling the Lynchburg Lemonade!

Since opening in 2005, this has become THE Irish pub in the Old Town thanks to its friendly atmosphere, reasonably priced pints, great grub (try the onion rings or the burger) and covered terrace.

Ma Nolan's, 50 metres from the Mediterranean coastline, on the picturesque French Riviera (Cote d'Azur). An airy terrace that can hold 60 people with a view of the world famous Cours Saleya Flower Market in the heart of the ‘Old Town' of Nice, is the setting for this breathtaking Irish Pub.

"Absolutely loved it"

Ma Nolan's Irish pub is excellent… the staff were very friendly and took us around a few local pubs and made us feel very welcome. I would definately recommend going to Ma Nolan's for their Irish Grub (esp. the Steak & Guinness Pie). They have drinks promotions on every night and the bands are outstanding. I am def going back next year.
